what is ableism

discrimination in favor of able-bodied people
:

why would you put an able bodied person in a role that someone with a disability would do best?
IE giving a regular actor a role of someone who has a condition, rather than an actor who has that condition?

why would you assume someone in a wheelchair would want you to roll them or assist them? asking them if they need help is so much better than assuming they want or need it.

when the handicap bathroom stall is used by someone who is clearly not handicap, and there are plenty of other stalls left. PLEASE leave this for people who need the accommodations.

why would you think that a person with a cane doesn't need to use it? because they "look like" they could walk without it just fine? do you know why they're using it?

why would you tell someone "you say that too much?" when it's something very prevalent to their life? like telling someone who is chronically ill that they ALWays give the response that they're tired? or that they have to cancel on something AGAIN for the same reason they did last time? do you think they WANT to be this way?

where is the wheelchair ramp on the public building?
how are people supposed to get in if they can't walk?

why would you say someone is retarded? or crazy? or .. you fill it in.
