feeling depressed VS being depressed

feeling depressed is like being sad.
feeling depressed is like nothing is going right in your day, and you need a do-over.
feeling depressed is like having it snow in May and it killing your flower.
you'll get over these things, and generally it won't take that long.

VERSUS

being depressed feels like you're stuck, and you can't get out of a hole.
feels like quick sand.
feels like mud stuck to your foot.
it feels like jelly on wet clothes - it's very hard to get out. (described by my youngest daughter)
being depressed literally changes your brain function.
