activism

What is it and what does it mean?
the policy or action of using vigorous campaigning to bring about political or social change

I think it's great when people are actively being out there, sharing information on topics that aren't through about or shared about very often. Or even things we haven't heard about before. New things that we can learn about and change how we can live and learn.

But there are different ways to go about spreading information and recruiting change.

negative activism
- to me, this is when people are out with picket signs, hollering and shouting and getting in other people's faces.
- nagging people you know about changing or conforming to do what you do or believe what you believe.
- badgering

positive activism
- when your passionate about something and you sign petitions online and you host a meeting or you have a booth or table at a local event.
- talk to people about topics and show them websites that can help them understand more.
- bring things up in conversations.
- create a youtube video that doesn't sound like your yelling and pushing things on people.
- wear and share or sell products that speak about things
- hand out flyers and pamphlets
- learn enough information about your topic to speak eloquently (i've heard people sometimes who are "really into" a topic, but they don't know enough about it to say something when someone asks).

Something to think about.
