life events and what they can teach you

today I had to return a pair of shoes because they aren't right for what we need them for.

after the return I went to Walmart to look at shoes and got a few things for myself.

after Walmart, I went to Goodwill to see if they would have the right shoes, and then meandered over to the women's dresses because I love dresses and thrifting. i found a dress that was so fun and pink and glittery, but because of COVID I wasn't able to try it on. so being me, I asked the lady who was also looking at dresses if she could take a photo of me with it and she said "sure! of course!". she had also encouraged me a minute earlier to try it on, before we thought of the COVID rule for dressing rooms.

after the dresses, I looked at some housewares and found this tiny teapot set, and I just HAD to get it for Zoe. unfortunately, I kept thinking in my head $5 minimum purchase (because some thrift stores have this rule). so I kept looking and found a candle that needed some love (even though I'm going to burn it) and found a vase that looked like a water pouring pot, and along the way I kept running into the same lady and we were joking about little things here and there.

when I got to the register, I asked about the $5 rule and they said "nope!" so I put back the vase and when she went to ring me up, it wouldn't go through. I checked my bank account on my phone real quick, and the return hadn't gone through yet.
then the fun lady was right behind me putting her things on the counter and said "I'll pay for it!". I was like "are you sure?" and she was like "yeah, no big deal, just put all of it together on one receipt".
-------
if COVID hadn't made us stay home, Zoe wouldn't have been so bored.
if Zoe hadn't wanted to look online for modeling and pageants, we never would have gone down this road.
if Zoe hadn't started modeling school, I never would have had to buy heels.
if I had never bought the wrong heels, I would never have had to return them.
I would not have been at Walmart to buy myself more supplies for journaling, etc.
I would have to been at goodwill at that time dropping off a bag and a pair of shoes (if I hadn't gone to the free yard sale at the church, I wouldn't have those things to donate).
I wouldn't have had fun with the pink dress, wouldn't have developed report with her, and she wouldn't have had the chance to pay forward her kindness.
and for that I'm grateful.
not for the tea set I'm gifting my daughter or the candle that looked sad and I couldn't smell through my mask (so I have no idea how it's going to smell).
but for the fact that you never know where you're doing to find an opportunity.
and you never know who is going to be in a position to pay forward kindness.

BE the person who pays it forward.
and ALLOW people to pay it forward to you.
and NEVER think that something so small has no impact.
EVERYTHING in life has an effect on something.
make it good.

church notes- Thought Bubbles - you need to read and listen to this one!

Elevation - Thought Bubbles
What if I could see what you're thinking right now?

Just because you think it doesn't mean you need to say it.
Some things need to stay in the bubble.

Sometimes the reason we come to God is not the reason He called us.
We have different hats: mine are seamstress, missionary, wife, mom, etc.

Sometimes to deliver you, God has to put you through disappointment.
OUCH
Sometimes I don't want to talk about what God is doing in me.

Create your bubble- simplify, certain people, etc.
"but" = get out.
I know I need to do this thing.. BUT.. no. No but.
You need to do the thing.

He doesn't do things the way you want the to be done.. He does them better.
And sometimes he throws in extra fries. :)
Unexpected extra blessings when we do what we're called to do.. no BUTs.
"My ways are not your ways"

Bermuda triangle

The Bermuda Triangle, also known as the Devil's Triangle or Hurricane Alley, is a loosely defined region in the western part of the North Atlantic Ocean where a number of aircraft and ships are said to have disappeared under mysterious circumstances. Most reputable sources dismiss the idea that there is any mystery.

Bermuda Triangle - HISTORY

Bermuda Triangle | Description & Facts | Britannica

What are the Three points in the Bermuda Triangle?

www.richmond.com

"While some believe the Triangle is a real place, others believe it is just a myth. According to the U.S. Board of Geographic Names as well as other agencies, the area does not officially exist. It also is not included on any official map.
Despite not being recognized by agencies, this area is known for its unexplainable disappearances. Planes, ships and people have seemingly vanished from the area, some in good weather, without even sending out distress signals. After the first few incidents, a pattern seemed to form that vessels traveling through the Triangle would either disappear or be found abandoned.
But despite whether the Bermuda Triangle actually exists, the area has been able to attract the public’s attention for hundreds of years."

What is a Conservative?

I noticed this on a friends Facebook page and it made me think.

What is a conservative and what are they conserving? What does this mean?

The central tenets of conservatism include tradition, organic society, hierarchy, authority, and property rights. Conservatives seek to preserve a range of institutions such as religion, parliamentary government, and property rights, with the aim of emphasizing social stability and continuity.

Genesis 2 ESV
And the Lord God planted a garden in Eden, in the east, and there he put the man whom he had formed. And out of the ground the Lord God made to spring up every tree that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. The tree of life was in the midst of the garden, and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
10 A river flowed out of Eden to water the garden, and there it divided and became four rivers. 11 The name of the first is the Pishon. It is the one that flowed around the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold. 12 And the gold of that land is good; bdellium and onyx stone are there. 13 The name of the second river is the Gihon. It is the one that flowed around the whole land of Cush. 14 And the name of the third river is the Tigris, which flows east of Assyria. And the fourth river is the Euphrates.

Genesis 2 NIV
Now the Lord God had planted a garden in the east, in Eden; and there he put the man he had formed. The Lord God made all kinds of trees grow out of the ground—trees that were pleasing to the eye and good for food. Jesus last words before he died

Eli, Eli, Lema, sambachathani?

My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?

In this moment, the only moment ever, God turned his back on his Son.
The most epic moment in the history of relationships.
God literally could not face his son because of he was going to a place where God could not be. He was descending into hell.

Wow.
What a time.
Jesus was going to a place that even His father could not be with him. The God who could see and be and hear and do anything and everything.. could do nothing for His son in the worst moments of his existence. He had to endure it alone.

Elevation church notes - I'm not what I thought.

Mark 5
the woman who was bleeding internally

her bleeding was not visible - she couldn't see where she was bleeding.
people can't see where you're bleeding.

she went to a lot of doctors and spent a lot of money, and only got worse.
some things fix you for a minute, but it really makes it worse.

sometimes what we think is better has no grounding in reality.

even though we have many more ways to communicate, that doesn't mean we're good at communicating, and it doesn't make us better at it.
BOOM! (mic drop)

What is your name?
Do you let what's wrong with you define you?
Depression is something I deal with, I'm not depressed.

You didn't make my lane, don't tell me to stay in it.
God put me where I am, and I'm going to do what HE calls me to, and your opinion about it doesn't matter.

Do not merely listen to the word and deceive yourselves because faith without works is dead.
James 2:14-26
What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them?
Suppose a brother or a sister is without clothes and daily food.
If one of you says to them, “Go in peace; keep warm and well fed,” but does nothing about their physical needs, what good is it?
In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
But someone will say, “You have faith; I have deeds.”
Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by my deeds.
You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.
You foolish person, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless?
Was not our father Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar?
You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did.
And the scripture was fulfilled that says, “Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness,” and he was called God’s friend.
You see that a person is considered righteous by what they do and not by faith alone.
In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction?
As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.

I am not what I suffer. I am not what I lost.

Thoughts are optional.
You don't have to believe everything in your brain.

Even good things can be wrong.
Right ideas, but wrong identity.

Some things can only be diagnosed by the manufacturer..
like if your Apple phone needs help, you bring it to the Genius Bar.
If something's wrong with you, you need to bring it to God.

what are GMO's? and Monsanto

https://www.nongmoproject.org/gmo-facts/

What is a GMO?Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are living organisms whose genetic material has been artificially manipulated in a laboratory through genetic engineering. This creates combinations of plant, animal, bacteria, and virus genes that do not occur in nature or through traditional crossbreeding methods.
Most GMOs have been engineered to withstand the direct application of herbicide and/or to produce an insecticide. However, new technologies are now being used to artificially develop other traits in plants, such as a resistance to browning in apples, and to create new organisms using synthetic biology. Despite biotech industry promises, there is no evidence that any of the GMOs currently on the market offer increased yield, drought tolerance, enhanced nutrition, or any other consumer benefit.
Monsanto is a multinational agricultural biotechnology corporation based in the United States. They are the world’s leading producer of Roundup®, a herbicidewith the active ingredient glyphosate.
Monsanto is also the largest producer of genetically engineered (GE) seeds on the planet, accounting for over 90% of the GE seeds planted globally in 2003. Monsanto introduced a genetically modified product (Roundup Ready Soybeans) that were resistant to Roundup. The first crops introduced were soybeans, followed by corn in 1998. “Roundup Ready” crops greatly improved a farmer’s ability to control weeds, since glyphosate could be sprayed in the fields without harming their crops.
TRANSLATION:  Roundup Kills Everything except the genetically engineered crop.   The seeds are engineered to resist the Roundup herbicide and further, the toxic (weed killing) residue of Glyphosate remains on the Roundup Ready seeds are genetically modified to withstand the herbicide toxicity.  This is also the primary purpose of ALL genetically modified seeds, to resist pest’s – drought – and most importantly pesticide and     herbicide.
Are you getting this?
Seeds that are “Roundup Ready” will survive Monsanto’s glyphosate herbicide while killing everything around it.

WOW – Great Idea right?   WRONG!  when these crops are harvested, they contain high levels of glyphosate and it doesn’t just go away.  Millions of gallons of this have been sprayed all across the U.S. – for years!  Corn crops are treated this way too.  The Corn is fed to animals, used in cereal and many other products… in fact, you probably know that corn products are in 75% of the things you buy at the grocery store and all of these products have traces of herbicide.
In addition, because weeds are pretty “smart” – the ones that used to die from the RoundUp herbicide treatments don’t die anymore.  They have adapted and become tolerant of the product that used to kill them.  Sources confirm that as many as 20 new types of weeds nicknamed “SuperWeeds” have been found growing in GMO crop sites. (SOURCES)
Throughout its history, Monsanto has developed chemical products which have eventually become controversial or been banned, including DDT, Agent Orange, Bovine Growth Hormone, and PCBs.
I DID NOT KNOW THIS :(

just because it's offered doesn't mean you need it :)

giving myself permission to not eat things, just because they are offered.

going to BJ's and not having a pazookie, just because that's what their special is.
just because it's offered doesn't mean I have to eat it.

going to Aubrey's and not ordering pizza, just because that's what their special is.
just because it's offered doesn't mean I have to eat it.

going to Red Lobster and not eating the biscuits, just because that's what their special is.
just because it's offered doesn't mean I have to eat it.

sometimes, depending on our surroundings, we feel obligated to do something, or be something or someone else, even though it's not who we are or what we need.

I'm comparing food things because for me, food is a downfall, and I have to so many limitations on it, I feel like if I allow myself to cheat in a controlled environment, it's ok.
but then I allow myself to do it too much, and it comes back to bite me.

lifelong struggle.

this was also a problem for me in college, especially being autistic and not knowing it.
I wanted to be part of things, be with people, but masking so I wasn't really me and I would push limits I knew I shouldn't just hoping it would help.

but it didn't.
it never did.
and it always made me feel bad.

one of my autism problems

Growing up, either I knew the answer and didn't want to say it out loud for fear that I was wrong, or I was called on and whether I knew the answer or not, it was embarrassing.

Now I'm allowing myself to say answers because I know them, but now I'm having a problem with interrupting my husband or my children because I know the answer but it's a question for them, not me.

Sometimes I don't know when it's okay for me to talk, or saying things out loud that don't need to be said, just because I know the information, or information overload because I feel like information needs to be shared, but It's overdone.

It's hard to balance.. but I'm trying.
All the time.

apologizing and ego

saying "I'm sorry" while you stand there, looking at the person with disdain.
you're not sorry

the only sorry you are is sorry you had to eat your words and swallow a lump of pride.
you don't feel anything in your heart but bitterness in that moment.

true apologies come from within.
they come from a place of personal guilt.. from actually feeling like you did something wrong and need to make amends for it.

it drives me crazy when parents say "you need to say you're sorry. say you're sorry" and demand it right then.

I have learned in my journey of being more mindful and teaching my daughters the same thing, that realizing something is wrong is a good thing.
But you cannot demand someone apologize in the heat of the moment. You can call them out and tell them what they're doing or what you just witnessed was uncalled for or that it was wrong. You can tell them that you feel they should do something about it after they've walked away and thought about it.

But don't say you're sorry, or demand an apology, when the situation is void of caring.
this just solidifies and makes it "okay" for people to pass off the importance of validating themselves and other people.

You matter.
Other people matter.
Don't let your head get so big that your heart can't feel that.

This season of pain

Even in my tiredness and exhaustion this morning, I was reading through my Youversion www.bible.com app devotion (about Depression and What to do with myself right now).

I was given these words.. This season of change and discouragement and pain and confusion...

We can take joy in it!
Why?
Because when we take joy in our sufferings, we allow God to move.
We allow Jesus to be our strength.

We ALL, as humans, know that all other humans are uncomfortable with pain. There may be a few who are okay with being with you in it, but in general, you can't find many people who will sit with you in it and stay put. They try to talk you out of it, not through it, and try to make you feel better, instead of feeling it and giving you that time to know what the pain is, where it comes from, and how to know your pain instead of burying it.

Jesus is comfortable sitting with you in that pain.
If you sit and close your eyes and just allow yourself to feel it, allow yourself to know what it is, where it's coming from, and let yourself express it (whether that be by tears or screaming or yelling or beating something).. Jesus is holding you in that time. He's sitting with you, He's loving you, and he's allowing you to just be.
And when the pain is over, when you work through it and don't ignore it.. He's still there, holding his hand out, ready and willing to help you back up and give you space and direction and another step towards being whole again.

Isaiah 61 - The Year of the Lord's Favor

I was given this during church this morning.
And I felt the need to share it in it's entirety.
What an amazing chapter.
God's timing is impeccable.

ISAIAH 61

The Year of the Lord’s Favor

1The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, 2to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor and the day of vengeance of our God, to comfort all who mourn, 3and provide for those who grieve in Zion—to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor.

Wow. God is doing a work. He is in our despair, He is in our confusion, we are not alone in our trials and struggles. God is moving in our favor. He's breaking our chains, He's showing us freedom, He is our ever present help in trouble. He brings hope to the broken-hearted, He restores us from our deepest sorrows to victory.
4They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations. 5Strangers will shepherd your flocks; foreigners will work your fields and vineyards. 6And you will be called priests of the Lordyou will be named ministers of our God.You will feed on the wealth of nations, and in their riches you will boast.
7Instead of your shame you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance. And so you will inherit a double portion in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours.
8“For I, the Lord, love justice; I hate robbery and wrong doing. In my faithfulness I will reward my people and make an everlasting covenant with them. 9Their descendants will be known among the nations and their offspring among the peoples. All who see them will acknowledge that they are a people the Lord has blessed.”

In everything that our world is dealing with right now, God is moving in His people. He is calling us to speak His truths. He is promising that our children and their children, and so forth, will see the work that we did while our world was in crisis, and they will see the blessings that God has brought out of this.
10I delight greatly in the Lordmy soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. 11For as the soil makes the sprout come up and a garden causes seeds to grow, so the Sovereign Lord will make righteousness and praise spring up before all nations.

Every little seed that you don't even KNOW you're planting right now is going to grow and blossom and yield fruit, when the season is ready. God is moving in all of His children! This is a season of sowing!

Sow His seeds!

Hebrews 5:11 - listening to God.

I saw this reference come up in the comments when I tuned in to Bethany Assembly's Facebook Live SOAP session they do right now every weekday morning.

Someone posted this reference, and I had to check it out.
Ok.. yes.
So.. have you read Hebrews 5? I mean lately. Recently. Because it's totally talking about Christianity right now. People who would profess to know what God wants and how he speaks to us and thinking that we know how to listen to Him, etc.

In this reference we are reminded of when we, as regular people, could not talk to God himself yet, and there was a priest who would take all prayers to God for us, and he himself also being human, had to have his own sins atoned for before he could present other people's sins to God, because at that point, the thinking was that there still had to be a sacrifice of something pure and sinless (perfect lamb).
Now we have that in Christ! HE is the perfect lamb, and his life and death atoned for all sins for all time.

But in this passage, it's saying that there is still so much to say about what Christ did for us, but we have become so accustomed to hearing the same things over and over again, it has just become noise in our ears. We aren't hearing it like we should. It's hard for us to hear the truths of God anymore because we are basically ignoring it. We don't TRY to understand it anymore, we have become complacent and almost like it's unnecessary.

Another part of the passage says we need to become like children again, and start back at the place of drinking milk, because even though we should be taking in steak, we are lazy and we almost don't care.
We need to get back to basics in our faith, and open our ears and listen again. Realize that we aren't hearing what we need to hear.

There is so much we still don't know about God and about what He has for us and who HE IS!
Please take the time to tune out the noise of the world, and listen to the voices that God has placed around you to teach you, because right now... you're treating it just like a buzzing in your ear.. something incessant and bothersome that you don't want to hear about anymore.

Not writing to submit my book because I’m afraid that I could lose my disability status.

So much amazing information and stories, etc in our minds, and we are capable of putting them on paper in many ways. But if we send it to someone to put in a book and share it with the world, we could lose our legal status at disabled, and therefore, lose our income and our insurance. This is a problem.
