Forbidden Fruit - what is your Kryptonite?

In the Old Testament, the apple was significant of the fall of man; in the New Testament, it is an emblem of the redemption from that fall. ... The phrase 'the apple of your eye' comes from verses in Deuteronomy 32:10, Psalm 17:8 Proverbs 7:2, and Zechariah 2:8, implying an object or person who is greatly valued

In the Garden of Eden, there was only one thing God told Adam and Eve they couldn't do.

If they ate the fruit from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, they would die.

Die?

no Perish.

They would understand what good and bad meant, and their beautiful pure connection to God would be broken.

Satan, the Serpent (at that time) used this "loophole" to lure Eve to eat it.

She would know things she wasn't supposed to, and that made her curious, and in time, made her do something she shouldn't, because of the devil.

The first sin.

Adam trusted her. Sure, he knew which tree the fruit was from, but since she had done it, why not, right?

Because someone does something and it looks like their okay, we do it too, don't we?

We think "hey it can't be that bad".

Do you know why God made rules? Does a child know why parents make rules? In order to have your best life. In order to live refreshed and beautiful lives.

You can't do that when you follow sin. Unfortunately, now, because of what Satan did to Eve, and because she allowed herself to make that choice (yes, even in the beautiful perfect garden, she had a choice).. now we are born impure. We are born into sin.

What would be your thing? What would be the item or thought or thing that would make you choose bad over good? Is it something you're addicted to? Is it something you've always wanted to do and you have it on your bucket list, but you know it's not right, but you refuse to erase it anyway?

The hardest thing is knowing and admitting what yours is, the next hardest thing is to say it out loud, and bring it to God. But I challenge you and I dare you. Say the word out loud. In a quiet space, speak it into the space around you, and give it to Him. He's waiting.
