the last word

why people always feel like they have to say the last word..

um.. closure?
or.. they think their words are most important?
or.. they just want to be heard?
or.. they think they're right, or can't be wrong?

It's not even about being right and wrong.
It's not even about having an argument.

Even in regular conversation..
and for some reason, just now when i googled images about "having the last word", i saw a lot of meme's with women always having to have the last word.

i'm not sure why this is, i'm not that way. i know a couple men who are that way.
the best thing in conversation, i've found, is just letting another person finish and leave it be.

I have noticed that sometimes, when I don't respond at the end of something, the other person looks at me weird. It's as if they're expecting a last response, and I'm just like .. um, okay? I thought that was the end of the thought of conversation. I have no response.

Sometimes, it's really just about being mature enough to listen to someone else and keep your own mouth shut, and just let them be heard.

What does sustainable mean? Sustainable living

Sustainable development means something that can sustain its own growth. A city that can sustain its own food sources, infrastructure, provide jobs for its people, etc is a sustainable development.
(Yahoo answers)

The dictionary defined being sustainable as..

capable of being supported or upheld, as by having its weight borne from below.

I honestly believe sustainable living is an amazing thing!

If you can find ways to grow your veggies or compost or purchase from other gardens or farms, figure out how to recycle or reuse as much as possible.

What a fantastic way to love on the earth God made.

Help create a way to live that can SUSTAIN life!

tattoos - Johnny Depp quote

exactly.
this is how i feel about the images i put on my body.

there are important things in my life, and it's easier for me to say thing about them if i have a visual.
having them on my body in a way that i love (my arm collage - aka half sleeve) helps me keep in mind how unique i am, and how much i have to offer, and that my story is meant to be lived and talked about, not kept a secret.

i'm not supposed to hide who i am
and a tattooed biker chick is me :)
this is my story
on my "sleeve"

remember to listen to your gut

i called my husband this morning because i wasn't sure how to answer a question. i am prone to making bad decisions sometimes when i can't think.

he asked me "how do you feel? what is your gut telling you?"
i said "i don't feel comfortable with it."
"there ya go"

you know, sometimes it may be hard to figure out an answer to something or what you're feeling, but if you remember to listen to your gut.. generally, your body will tell you if something is okay or not.

even though i am prone to sketchy decision making, i can still trust my got to help me figure out what my opinion or my viewpoint is.

thank you, hubby, for helping me remember i can, more often than i think, rely on myself.
my inner voice is important to listen to.

common sense

i was in a conversation with someone i know at a wedding recently and the phrase "common sense" came up. we decided we need to find a different "title" for that now, things that use to be common to know are not.

common sense would tell you..

These 43 Things Prove That Common Sense Is Not Always Common ...
(omgosh #6 drives me nuts.. probably because i worked retail.)

tip your waiter, especially if they did a crappy job. you don't know their life.

using a turning signal anytime you're turning.
staying in your own lane.

personal hygiene, wearing deodorant and clean clothes.

when someone is rude to you, breathe and let it go. you don't need to be confrontational.

sitting is like smoking.. sitting all the time is unhealthy for you.
kind of like diet, it should be common sense that certain things are good or bad for you, but we ignore it and do it anyway

you shouldn't take up an entire hallway when you're walking
respect other people's space

use please and thank you
don't talk with food in your mouth
use your money on what you need before you buy what you want

when there's a funeral processional, pull your car over and stop with your 4-way flashers on. do not start driving until they are past.

Where did genies come from?

My oldest daughter, Jazmine, was named after a disney princess ;) You guessed it from the movie, Aladdin. Both my husband and I apparently both loved the name right off the bat.

So therefore, she has a copy of the original Aladdin, and now we love to watch the "real life" one, too.
And therefore came the question.. where do genie's come from.
So me, being me, decided to research it.
The links below are great resources for this burning question. :)

A Brief History of Jinn or Genies | Circa71

  • Genies (also called Jinn or genii) are spirits in cultures of the Middle East and Africa. The term genie comes from the Arabic word jinni, which referred to an evil spirit that could take the shape of an animal or person. It could be found in every kind of nonliving thing, even air and fire.

How did 4,500 year old demons turn into blue guys singing songs about friendship? It took a few thousand years of city conquering and myth twisting to divorce the old from the new, but thanks to pop culture and 17th century France, ancient and terrifying creatures of the desert became docile cartoon characters and spunky blondes engaging in classic televised hijinks.

what disassociation feels like - in the midst of it

I generally am not as clear headed as this and able to write and put words to it while i'm experiencing this, so that's one reason i'm sharing the experiences with you.
Also the fact that it's very hard to explain disassociation to someone who doesn't know much about mental illness and the struggles that come with it.

I am a mother of 3, have been married since 2003.. and this is what a long (hours long, almost all day) episode of disassociation is like from the inside.

--------

I’m trying to feel awake enough to feel real
I don’t feel alive, I’m disassociative
People call me mom… But did I give them life? The only recollection I have of having babies is the three young people running around my house and my stretched out body
Things going on around me remind me that I’m responsible in someway. The things on my watch and my phone remind me but there’s some thing I have to do but what is it. Look at the screen
I’m sorry I fell asleep again… Is this real?
I touch a banana and it feels real, it seems real, and I’m going to assume that it will taste real. But it did in another world too
It seems like i'm a floating being, and there's a body that I exist in
That's the only way people can see me
Little bits here and there are like autopilot for my brain
I know what to do but it doesn't seem relevant or important
Yet it's necessary for some reason
Okay, well I did it. I felt connected to the world while i was doing it. And now i'm floating again.. now what?
